Zack Walters

As a college man, Zack Walters planned to become a famous reporter in a large city. But his plans changed when he got married. He and his wife began a family and he became a small town reporter. He was content to focus on his family but, after he lost his wife and child, Zack struggled with his life and career aspirations. When he’s plunged into a story that might bring him fame, he discovers what is really important.

Franklin Kindemann

The day before Private Franklin Kindemann went overseas, he fell in love with a lovely woman. While in Afghanistan, he dreamed of their reunion, but he was wounded in the middle east and lost the use of his legs. When he returned home, he became a successful antiques dealer. Despite his wealth and success, he never did muster the courage to face the woman he loves. Not only does he fear she’s forgotten him but he’s afraid to see her reaction to his wheelchair.

Blanca & Alberto Gonzales

Because Alberto Gonzales has been unemployed for over two years, he lives with his mother. A poker game put him in debt with a loan shark, and a thug gave him one week to pay the debt. An opportunity falls in his lap and he is so anxious to get  money that  he does not consider the opportunity’s negative implications.

Alberto’s mother, Blanca Gonzales, a devoted Christian woman, works as a custodian and volunteers at a soup kitchen. Blanca is close friends with Liz Lawson.

Liz Lawson

Liz Lawson, a single mother and waitress, has a teenaged son who is hospitalized with leukemia. Her debts are enormous but when a windfall is dangled in front of her, she must choose between chasing the wealth or spending precious time with her son.

Max & Natasha Sterling

Max and Natasha Sterling have been married for two years, and appear to have a perfect life. He is a promising money manager and she is a ballerina. The day Max loses his job, they are offered an opportunity that seems “too good to be true.”

Will Riddle

Will Riddle was Zack’s roommate in college. After graduation, Will pursued a political career in Washington D.C.  Zack feels as if he has lived his life in the shadow of Will’s success, especially now that Will is a director at Homeland Security.
