I just returned from a wonderful vacation near Hatteras, North Carolina. It was a great trip complete with an oceanfront cottage. I took along my laptop and a printout of Finding Verity. Yes, I had plans to get a lot of work done. A lot.
But, alas, that did not happen.
I did read through the printout and made some notes but I never did get out my laptop to actually do any serious writing. However, I did think a lot about an area of my story that was giving me problems.
I don’t know if it was the sound of the ocean’s crashing waves or the sun’s therapeutic heat but one day I had a flash and ideas surged into my thick head and, I know that NOW I can get to the end of Finding Verity without having to jump over glaring plot holes.
So, my thoughts about this experience…
If you are having problems with something in your story, try turning your back to it for a few days. Take a break! The problem just might solve itself!
