I Love Sundays…

On the writing front, I’ve been busy this week.

I’ve been working with Ubaid Seth on a new “short.”  So far, I’ve written a couple of drafts and I think we’re getting close.  Ubaid now has the latest draft and I’m waiting for his comments.

I wrote a short for this month’s challenge at MoviePoet.   This month’s challenge is titled “It’s Alive.”  The asignment:  “Bring a cadaver, a dead animal, or even an inanimate object to life. No Zombies.”  It took a while for an idea to form in my head but, finally, I got one.  Still needs a rewrite but I’m close.

In regards to MoviePoet, I finished reviewing all the “Ace, Baby, Honey, Jack and Spike” scripts.  As usual, I’m looking forward to seeing what all my fellow MPers think about my script.  Of course, I always think I’m going to win but in reality it never happens.  Once I got an “Honorable Mention” and  I’m really proud of that because it’s a hard thing to earn.

I’m close to finishing the second draft of “Unbelievable.”   A lot of people have told me they don’t like the title but I can’t think of anything I like better.  In the near future, I’ll be giving the SP to some friends to read and I’m hoping I’ll get some ideas from them.

I absolutely love Sundays because on Sundays I can usually devote  four or more straight hours to writing.    Saturdays are cluttered with things like grocery shopping,  laundry, and running errands.   I get to write on Saturday but the long stretches of time that Sunday brings are not available on Saturdays.  Sundays are for writing and family!  During the week I  write but it’s just snippets of writing time, here and there.  I love the long stretches.  I love Sundays!

Churhi can be viewed “Online”

The short screenplay that I wrote for Ubaid Seth can now be viewed on-line at the DVXUser competition.  If you are interested in viewing it, click here, and then scroll down and select “Churhi.”  You do not have to be registered to view or vote.

I wrote “Churhi” for Ubaid Seth, who lives in Houston.  That is where “Churhi” was filmed.  Ubaid wants to commission me to write another short film for him and I have agreed.  I will start to write it this week-end.

Almost done with the second draft of  “The Screenplay”.  Got it registered with the Writer’s Guild last week-end.  The working title of “The Screenplay” is UNBELIEVABLE.  I haven’t decided if I’m going to keep that title or not.  A lot of my “writer” friends don’t seem to like it but I think it fits the story.

MoviePoet.com Rocks!

If you are an aspiring screenwriter, may I suggest you visit MoviePoet.com.

There has never been a nicer, kinder place to hang out than MoviePoet.com.  Even when I don’t win challenges at MP, I am never treated  like a loser on this site.

Two days ago, when I didn’t move forward on the logline contest, I felt demoralized.  The folks at MP have encouraged me and made me feel worthwhile again.

Thank you Chris Messineo for the gift of MoviePoet.com.   And a special thanks to everyone at MoviePoet, for their kind words and encouragement.

Another Dip on the Emotional Roller Coaster

Sometimes I wonder why I even bother.  Last year my logline failed to advance in Moviepoet’s logline contest.   Same thing happened this year.  Is it possible to write a great screenplay without being able to write a decent logline?

I am disappointed.  And hurt.  And angry.

Tempted to give up?   Sure.

Will I?   No way.

I will continue to write.    That’s about all I have to say about it.

Hopefully I’ll feel better about all this in a few hours.
